I just got finished reading through the rebuttals to the Theistic Critiques and the point-by-point of "I don't have enough FAITH to be an ATHEIST". I just wanted to leave a comment to announce my presence as a new reader, and tell you to keep up the good work! At the very least, know that the detail and thoroughness of your work is extremely appreciated.

It's interesting to me that SO much of Christian theology is based on these grand-sounding profundities that simply don't make sense. It's odd -- William Lane Craig's philosophical yoga makes the work of Ray Comfort seem like straightforward, cohesive argument, albeit completely and utterly wrong. At the very least, Comfort seems to be honest with himself about his motivations and mission.

Anyways, best of luck moving forward, and keep the material coming!

The Deacon said "The conclusion of the church council(s) was that mortal minds were insufficient to truly comprehend the “mysteries” involved..."

I'm fascinated by this idea of Mystery. It's the perfect solution to any doctrinal problem. A person can basically make any claim, no matter how wild. Then when challenged, all they have to say is "I don't know how it can be true, but it is true. It's a mystery beyond our understanding". Or a popular variation is "We can't understand it now, but one day it will all be clear." Why on Earth should I believe that? Seems like a Cosmic Cop Out to me.

Now, maybe some of these mysterious claims actually happen to be true. But to an objective observer, they all become very suspicious.

I get the impression that modern "quantum theology" would consider God like a wave/particle duality. Somehow I think William Lane Craig would look very approvingly on this kind of hand waving. If considered in one "experiment" God appears as wave, in another as particle. Father, Son, and Spirit however, doesn't seem to map too well to modern physics.

Y'know, it's funny, I heard my pastor say during church one time- 'It's been said that if you try to deny the Trinity, you'll lose your soul. But if you try to understand the Trinity, you'll lose your mind.'
In other words, just believe what we tell you to believe, and accept what we tell you to accept. Don't ask questions or try and come to your own conclusions. None of that sinful thinking bullshit.
