He's also learning not to post links to my site when he talks about it. I used to get a bunch of hits specifically from theologyweb.com whenever I posted anything about TAM, but this post didn't register any. Sure enough, he quoted excerpts from the post and even from the comments, but carefully avoided giving his readers a link that would have let them read the originals in context.

A simple comparison of your writing style versus Holding's writing style reveals that Holding is out of his league. That's before one gets into the meet of your arguments, and then he isn't even in the same sport, much less the same league.

I suspect it's not in Mr. Holding's best interests to be too specific about what "the patronage model" is. It's apparently supposed to be some kind of scholarly excuse for why God does not show up in real life, possibly incorporating an excuse for why it's ok to take people's word for it when they claim that He did show up in real life. By avoiding any detailed explanation of patronage, Holding can continue to mock us and accuse us of being ignorant. If he spells out what it is, then he opens it up to critical examination. Sneering is much safer.

I hate to ask, but what's the "patronage model"? I'm being lazy by asking, I know it...but it's not jumping out at me over at the Tekton site, and lots of (I think) unrelated things jump out at me if I Google it. It seems pretty important to Mr. Holding, and I know I ought to find it the honorable way, but--I'm so embarrassed!--I was hoping there might be a short answer. Sorry, I've always been a lousy student.

Leaving all the rest of the aptly-named "apologetics" aside, is anyone to take the scholarship of someone who refers to you as, "dumbash", seriously? Whatever else he is saying is hard to interpret after I digest the fact that he resorts to grade school name appropriation. And what's with the "too scared to read beyond a summary" accusation? It would be comical if his obvious knowledge didn't present a cognitive dissonance in relation to his plebeian tactics. How do you find the patience for such things?
